As the state of California battles to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, public health officials have issued a "shelter in place" order that includes all of Alameda County, including Mills College. The F.W. Olin Library will be closed until further notice. Check here for updates about our hours. All of our online resources will still be available during this time for Mills students and faculty. Please see this guide for information about remote services.
Starting Fall 2020, the library is no longer able to host e-reserves. Instead, you can upload or link all of your electronic readings in Canvas.
If you need access to any e-reserves used in the past, email reserves@mills.edu with the professor’s name, course name and course number.
When choosing materials, we highly encourage selecting electronic resources that are licensed by the library or are Open Educational Resources. See our Faculty Resources page for information about linking to materials in the library’s databases as well as links to the Open Textbook Library and the Directory of Open Access Journals.
If you must use a specific text not available legally online, we recommend selecting 10 percent of the most important content and uploading it to canvas.
Faculty members are responsible for complying with copyright law. Please refer to the Copyright Policy of Mills College for more information
Physical Reserve Copies
We are unable to offer physical reserves for Fall 2020. If you haven’t done so already, faculty should start thinking about alternatives such as:
Scanning up to 10% of a book and making that available in Canvas.
Linking to materials available in the library databases (you can search all at once from the library homepage now by selecting Databases + Articles).
Requesting ebook purchases (which we cannot always fill! It depends very much on the publisher which is outside of our control!).
