The F. W. Olin Library affirms Mills College’s support of Black students, staff, faculty, and allies against anti-Black racism, police violence, and racial inequity and the Mills College Board of Trustees Commitment to Antiracism. We want to acknowledge past harms and mistakes and the need for more work as an institution and as individuals to fight against systemic racism and intolerance.

We are committed to working towards racial and gender justice through our work and policies to create a more inclusive environment, more inclusive collections, and a more informed staff. These include an open access policy; conscientious collection development practices that examine the composition of the collection to insure wide representation of marginalized groups and individuals as well as cultivating more inclusive collections through thoughtful deaccessioning and the addition of new material; cataloging and classification practices; inclusion of representative books and other library resources in library displays and exhibitions; professional development and training on anti-racism for library staff; and attention to the way that information literacy is presented and taught.
